Jenna Dawson is in the final stage of completing her Ph.D. in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Waterloo. Jenna is currently working under the supervision of Dr. Mainland as she works towards completing her Ph.D., and then pursuing registration as a psychologist with the College of Psychologist of Ontario.
Jenna provides evidence-based therapy (e.g., Cognitive Behaviour and Mindfulness Based Therapy) to support adolescents and adults with various challenges impacting their wellbeing, including:
Anxiety (e.g., phobias, social, generalized)
Depression
OCD and related disorders
Interpersonal difficulties
Learning difficulties (e.g., ADHD)
Jenna adapts her therapeutic approach depending on the needs of her clients, with an emphasis on working collaboratively and building a strong therapeutic relationship. Jenna has an interest in working collaboratively with parents, when appropriate, to help build an understanding of their child’s behaviour and engage in positive parenting approaches that promote connection and the development of coping skills.
Jenna also provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for youth presenting with a range of cognitive, learning, behavioural, developmental, and social-emotional difficulties.
Prior to working with the Waterloo Psychology Group, Jenna completed her clinical residency at the Waterloo Region Psychology Consortium, where she provided assessment, treatment, and consultation for children and adolescents at Lutherwood Children’s Mental Health Centre and the Waterloo Region District School Board. She has also trained at the Hamilton Health Science Centre, London Health Science Centre, and the Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment at the University of Waterloo.
In addition to her work with Waterloo Psychology Group, Jenna is also a Psychological Services Consultant at the Waterloo Region District School Board, providing assessment, consultation, and intervention to youth.
