Dr. Janis Williams

Psychologist
Population seen: Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Dr. Williams practices in the areas of clinical and counselling psychology. She provides assessments for a wide range of issues (e.g., behavioural challenges, developmental disorders, intellectual disorders, learning disorders, mental health concerns), as well as evidence-based therapy to support children, adolescents, and adults experiencing behavioural and/or mental health concerns (e.g., anxiety/stress, depression, relationship issues, traumatic experiences).

Dr. Williams primarily uses a cognitive behavioural approach to treatment; however, therapy is individualized to meet the client’s/family’s needs. She works collaboratively with her clients, and their parents (when the clients are children or adolescents), building on their strengths to help them further develop the skills required to enhance their emotional wellbeing, and achieve their goals.

Dr. Williams received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Windsor. She has previously held positions at children’s mental health centres, a children’s treatment centre, and a school board. Dr. Williams has experience assessing children and adolescents who present with an autism spectrum disorder, as well as those who have complex needs. In addition, she has maintained a private practice, primarily serving adolescents and adults, for over 20 years.
